KANZU Research (Resilient Built Environment) would like to take this opportunity to express our gratitude and appreciation to all the participants for attending MOBILISE International Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) – Truly, MOBILISE2018 was a very exclusive event for our team and the successful of this event has marked a very important milestone for us at UTHM and KANZU Research.

MOBILISE Project is funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC), the UK’s main agency for funding research in engineering and the physical sciences and Global Challenges Research Fund (GCRF), a £1.5 billion fund announced by the UK Government in late 2015 to support cutting-edge research that addresses the challenges faced by developing countries. Leading by Prof Terrence Fernando, THINKlab, University of Salford, this project involves researchers from University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka as well as University of Peshawar, Pakistan.

MOBILISE2018 aimed to bring together multiple agencies consist of local and international academics, researchers, professional, expert and scholars to exchange and share their experiences, new ideas and best practices on DRR efforts in Malaysia.
Happy for the successful of MOBILISE2018 which was held from 29 to 30th October 2018 at Le Méridien, Putrajaya.

6 interesting keynote sessions from various perspectives of (1) Disaster Management, (2) Disaster Risk Reduction, (3) Blockchain Technology for Disaster Management and (4) Resilient Built Environment were comprehensively discussed. Emphasis was given to the possibility of having a unified digital platform for building community resilience in Malaysia and this will facilitate the growing capacity in Malaysia Disaster Management Agencies (MDMA) to “bounce back” and “build back better” from disruptions, like those disasters caused by climate change.

Congratulations once again for setting our sights high and making every effort to achieve that goal. Let’s ensure that our TEAM continuously chase for greatness and strive for research & development excellence.
