Description:
Sarawak Multimedia Authority (SMA) through its role in driving Digital Economy in Sarawak has always supported the initiative of the community. The Makers community who refers themselves as the #JagaSamaDirik community is now driving the initiative to help the frontliners in fighting Covid19 and unfortunate families who are affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO). The community’s aim is not only that they help healthcare workers at work but also help the less fortunate families who do not have food at home. The #JagaSamaDirik community will be stockpiling food and delivering it to families affected by the MCO. In this regard, SMA has allowed #JagaSamaDirik community to operate at one of SMA Digital Innovation Hubs (DIH) in the Kuching area called the SMA Creative Heritage Innovation Centre (CHIC), located at Bangunan Yayasan Sarawak. As MCO extends, the #JagaSamaDirik community has established a web app aimed at hospitals to enable them to make PPE requests, to unfortunate families to request for food and to Sarawakians to volunteer their time and expertise to help in this initiative. The wishlist for food donation includes rice (5 or 10kg), cooking oil, instant noodles, infant/toddler milk formula, canned food, diapers, salt and sugar. As for the PPEs, the types sought are 3D printed face shields, disposable face shields, N95 Masks and transparent A4 sheets. “We applaud the initiatives by the #JagaSamaDirik Community and also other communities who have banded together to help out during these unprecedented times. Our well-equipped Innovation Hub has helped to produce the face shields and also act as a temporary collection centre for the donated items. I am glad that the DIH can be put to good use by the community in helping the State get through the pandemic.” Said Dr Zaidi Razak, General Manager, SMA.
